Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful. French Antique Nap III Writing Slope w/2 Inkwells/Working Lock & Key 1850s. A French writing slope from the 1850s in varnished mahogany, with two brass cap glass replacement inkwells from the 1900s, a brass inlay on the top lid and a working lock and key. Once opened, the slope has a burgundy velvet writing surface and a dip nib pen storage area with the original lid. The slope measures 14 inches wide, 4 ¾ inches high and 9 5/8 inches closed. Open, it is 19 ¼ inches long. It weighs 5 lbs. The interior storage area is lined in burgundy felt and there is a crack across the bottom which has not impacted the boxs closure. The varnished finish has some small cracks, normal considering its age and it has been cleaned and restored decades ago. There is a black felt pad on the bottom to prevent scratching on surfaces. It is a good-sized writing slope, very functional and useful and in overall very good condition. Please read before purchasing. Vintage and antique objects have lived and been used and because of that, they sometimes show it. The condition of the object is described as accurately as possible, including its character flaws. But that is really part of the attraction and enjoyment of an old piece. Please verify the package upon receipt and inform the postal authorities of any damage. The item must be sent back in the same condition and in the same packaging.
