A charming and early small sewing / needles box dating to the early nineteenth century, around 1810, over 200 years old. Made from a beautiful red leather, the gold embossing miraculously is still good considering it’s age. The lid has a bold gold embossed border and in the center “Kirby’s Royal Improved Superior Needles & Pins”. The nickel catch to the front is in full working order and once opened reveals a fitted interior with the original pink paper lining. The inside of the lid retains a superb original label for William Dobson at 38 Strand, London. There are various bits of sewing paraphernalia. Excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age. 5 1/4 x 2 3/4″ x 2″.
